The 2009 Buffalo Nation Powwow
was held June 19-21 in Farmington, PA.

Greetings relatives,

What an amazing blessed event we were able to be a part of! The spiritual power that manifested itself during those three days was, to say the least, overwhelming. Everyone here, from the youngest child to the oldest elder were touched in some beautiful way. What a privilege, a humbling honor, to be a witness to those healings.

Thank you, to all who came, supported, volunteered and assisted. Each and every one of you has humbled me to my very core. To have been presented with the awesome responsibility of carrying the Eagle Staff… it takes my breath away. What more could I possibly say? To have presented that Staff to Tunkasila and have Chief Harry Dakota of the Wisconsin Oneida and Rick Allen of the Osage dance an honor dance around me. To have such a highly respected Elder as Clayton Old Elk of the Crow Nation sing an honor song for me. To have the Ancients show themselves as this was being done. My relatives, I am overwhelmed.

A special thank you to the Elders who were here. Clayton Old Elk, who emceed the event and did an amazing job. Grandmothers Mary Johnson and Marilyn Black Elk, who spent so much time with the People, teaching and sharing their wisdom. Mitchell Bush of the Onondaga. All of the visiting Elders of the American Indian Society of Washington, DC. Thank you, for the privilege of escorting you to visit with the Sacred Animals. Blue Thunder, Spiritual Leader of the Shoshone Nation, thank you for the ceremonies you performed for our relatives and the wisdom you shared. Johnny Coe, thank you, for pouring water for the People. Thank you, General Grant of the Eastern Cherokee.

Thank you, Bill Miller, Joseph FireCrow, N8V, Jan Seiden, Dan LaVoie, and The John Wyrick Band. Each of you gave amazing performances. Joseph, we were so blessed to have you perform during the dinner breaks. It is humbling to know a man like you. John Wyrick, who managed all the sound and stepped up Friday night for an impromptu acoustic session - you are the man! Kingfish, what can I possibly say? You covered the entire event, took time to be with every guest here, did all the interviews, put up with me, and still said thank you. My absolute appreciation doesn’t begin to cover.

To all those who volunteered, this could never have happened without you. Truly, I am blessed to be able to know such amazing People!

Finally, to our guests of honor - the White and the Black Buffalo, who spoke to the People and told us who they are. I am still awe struck that I was asked to perform that ceremony, and grateful I was given the opportunity to give my flesh.

Tunkasila, Wakan Tanka, wopila. Thank you for this blessing, this beauty, this message. May I always walk in beauty, humbly and with honor, as I fulfill this responsibility you have bestowed upon me. May I always give this message to our Relatives with honor and integrity, always speaking the truth, always in your way. May I always be your humble servant.
